A garden landscape created by visionary artist George Phar Legler (1885–1982) as an immersive fantasyland designed to promote kindness and tolerance through magical experiences.  The Valley of the Moon is a unique architectural expression of the mid‑nineteenth and early twentieth century fringe religious movement called Spiritualism.

A 1920/30s fairytale garden tucked into Mid-town Tucson, George Phar Legler designed and created Valley of the Moon largely between 1923 and 1932.  Legler, a railroad man turned postal clerk and visionary artist, created a enchanted storybook land and shared it to promote kindness and spark imagination.

Valley of the Moon formally became a nonprofit in 1945 to advocate tolerance and brotherly love regardless of race, creed or color and to present the power of the mind as a leading factor in maintaining the health of the body. A strong tradition of theatrical performances and fantasy adventures have delighted generations of guest and volunteers. Valley of the Moon has always benefited from donations from generous individual donors and businesses.
