The Museum of Florida Art and Culture collects, researches, exhibits, and preserves the natural and cultural history of Florida, and contemporary art from and about Florida.

Located on the Highlands Campus of South Florida State College, MOFAC presents contemporary art exhibitions in the Museum, Theatre Lobby, and Board Room Lobby. Works of art from the permanent collection are also installed in buildings throughout the campus.

At MOFAC you can also find the always on view and always evolving A History of Florida exhibition, consisting of contemporary art, geological specimens, fossils, and material culture excavated locally in and around Highlands County. A History of Florida presents a condensed visual timeline of Florida from its initial emergence from the sea up to the 20th century, and includes reproductions of the 10 murals painted by Christopher Still as part of his House Chamber Murals installed in the Florida House of Representatives Chambers. Depicting Florida’s history and natural beauty, each canvas print measures over six feet long and hangs in the MOFAC Concourse.
