The Hilltop House and Studio is a hand-crafted, artist-made home, built by artist Dorothy Riester (1916 - 2017) and her husband, Bob Riester. Constructed in the late 1950’s to the early 1970’s, the home is nestled in the rural hills of Cazenovia, New York.
Located in the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, the mission is to preserve the Hilltop House and Studio and to interpret and promote Dorothy Riester’s life and work. Stone Quarry stewards the Riester’s story to nurture and inspire in others an appreciation for the craftsmanship of mid-century modern architecture and design, and a reverence for the ever-changing relationship between art and nature.
The Dorothy Riester House and Studio (Hilltop House and Studio,) including the original 23-acres, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
Viewing of the Hilltop House & Studio is by guided tour between May and September.
