Originally a 50 acre farmstead, purchased from the Whiddon family in 1994, the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens now consists of 24 gardens or areas of interest which are linked together by a paved trail.

DABG is one of the seven gardens in the state to be featured on the Alabama Garden Trail. DABG is also one of the birding sites for the Wiregrass Area on the Alabama Birding Trails.
