The Center for Architecture Sarasota is dedicated to heightening awareness of and appreciation for innovative architecture, good design, and sensitive urban planning. The Center is a year-round Member-supported design studio, classroom, exhibit space, lecture hall, meeting place, and destination for people who believe that good design matters.
The Center is housed in the restored 1960 Scott Building in downtown Sarasota. The Scott Building is a significant surviving example of commercial architecture that was completed during the period of time that has since become known as the Sarasota School of Architecture.
The restoration preserved the beautiful and minimal modernist aesthetic of the building and turned the spaces into a museum-quality gallery and lecture hall with state-of-the-art presentation technologies. The renovation has been awarded the AIA Florida Honor Award for Historic Preservation-the highest award in its category.
