A+P is an arts and education private foundation based in Leimert Park. A+P’s mandate is to create an educational platform that supports the acquisition of practical skills for foster youth and stresses the cultural importance of art within a larger social context. To support its goals of empowering foster youth and strengthening communities through contemporary art, A+P oversees three areas of focus: 1) a technology lab and classrooms, 2) a curated film and lecture space, and 3) an exhibition space for visual arts.
Organized by the Hammer Museum (see separate listing), exhibitions at A+P showcase world-class contemporary art in all media, highlighting artists from (or working in) Los Angeles, with a special emphasis on social commentary.
In a 20,000 square-foot campus programs and activities occur in partnership with two organizations that share its core values: the Hammer Museum, which curates exhibitions and public programs on the A+P campus; and The RightWay Foundation, which oversees the foundation’s foster youth services by delivering mental health services and job training to foster youth.
