This garden was planned in the 1990s by the Greek architect and artist, Ioannis Karalias. The diagonal of the main pathway cuts across the gardens where the sculptures are placed within the natural confines of the open native Midwest Prairie. Displayed in outside rooms are sculptures made by International and American artists, chosen to fit the natural environment.
Located on 20 acres of meadow and forest, the grounds that lie inside the Schaumburg Municipal Complex were configured to display The Chicago Athenaeum's extensive collection of contemporary sculpture.
The Sculpture Park is a unique public-private partnership between The Village of Schaumburg and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
