The Pasadena Museum of California Art is permanently closed.
As a non-collecting institution founded in 1999, the Museum developed temporary exhibitions with independent curators focusing exclusively on California artists. The 3-story contemporary building opened its doors in 2002.
Exhibitions encompassed both historical and contemporary art ranging from plein-air painters inspired by the region’s mountains and deserts to artists who used the PMCA’s building as a canvas.
