Museum maintains collections that document Navajo art and culture from 1850 to the present, and presents changing exhibitions on traditional and contemporary Navajo and other Native American arts.
In addition, the Center for the Study of Southwestern Jewelry collection includes silver-smithing and other forms of metalwork, lapidary, and historic and contemporary jewelry. One of the strengths of the collection is that many of the earliest objects are documented or attributed to known makers.
