Associated with the College of William and Mary, the collection holds more than five thousand works of art encompassing a diverse group of objects from antiquity to the present, Eastern and Western art, and examples of almost every material and medium.
Noteworthy are Colonial American and English 17th- and 18th- century portraits; original prints and drawings from the 15th- through 21st-centuries representing both American and European artists;as well as a selection of Japanese prints; German Expressionist works by Hans Grohs; and a collection of American modern works in oils, drawings, watercolors, and sculpture.
