The Museum houses a diverse collection of more than 70,000 pieces of art, artifacts, fossils and more. The museum’s collection and permanent exhibits focus on four disciplines -- including art -- which reflect the rich history of South Carolina dating from the pre-historic era to the present.
The art collection includes traditional portraiture and decorative arts through to contemporary work by South Carolina artists. Artwork is featured in changing exhibits in the Lipscomb Gallery, and throughout four floors of permanent exhibit space.
