The Peabody houses the State Archive art collection, which numbers more than 1400 objects, including paintings, sculpture, miniatures, medals, ceramics and glass, textiles, photographs and manuscripts, and holdings of approximately 1100 works on paper.
Objects in the collection date from the 13th to the 20th centuries, with a strong emphasis on 19th- and early 20th-century paintings and sculpture. Includes works by Winslow Homer, George Inness, and Childe Hassam.
