Associated with the University of Delaware, Mechanical Hall today houses the University's collection of African American Art.
The African American art collection includes the founding Paul R. Jones gift, a broad range of prints from the Brandywine Workshop in Philadelphia, photographs by P.H. Polk and representative works by Delaware artist Edward L. Loper, Sr.
The gallery in Mechanical Hall offers changing exhibitions of African American Art drawn from the University’s collection and elsewhere. Mechanical Hall houses a print room for the use of those studying objects in the collection.
Built in 1898, Mechanical Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places.
