Alfred Jacob Miller: Revisiting the Rendezvous in Scotland and Today is an exhibition that offers a fresh perspective on Miller’s renowned work. Best known for his vivid depictions of the legendary 1837 Rocky Mountain Rendezvous, Miller’s paintings provide a fascinating glimpse into this historic event, where fur traders, mountain men, and Native Americans converged in a spectacular display of culture and commerce.

Accompanying his patron, the intrepid Scottish adventurer William Drummond Stewart, Miller ventured into the heart of the rendezvous to document its essence firsthand. The result? A mesmerizing collection of paintings that adorned Stewart’s family home at Scotland’s Murthly Castle. And now, after over a century apart, many of these masterpieces are reunited in this exhibition.

Co-organized by the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
