Guests at the Tampa Bay Hotel reveled in anatmosphere of heady opulence, surrounded by exotic furnishings, porcelains, Venetian mirrors, and sculptures handpicked in Europe by Mr. and Mrs. Plant. The décor was a collection demonstrating such exquisite taste that one writer described it as “a jewel casket into which has been gathered an infinite number of gems.”
Newspaper accounts credited Margaret Plant for the exquisite décor. She and Mr. Plant traveled extensively and purchased objects from around the world to create the exotic and opulent atmosphere that was the Tampa Bay Hotel.
