As part of Dartmouth’s 250th anniversary celebration, the Hood Museum reopened in its renovated and expanded facility in January, 2019. The redesigned space includes three object-study rooms, a public reception space, and a number of new galleries, along with renovations to the existing Charles Moore galleries. In the meantime, the Hood's downtown Hanover exhibition space is open to explore new contemporary art. Hood Downtown is located at 53 Main Street, in Hanover.

Dartmouth College holds one of the oldest and largest college collections in the United States, with more than 65,000 objects from the American, Native American, European, African, and Melanesian art, including a significant collection of indigenous Australian contemporary art and a major archive of photojournalism. Among the collection’s treasures are Assyrian stone reliefs and the fresco mural cycle, The Epic of American Civilization, by José Clemente Orozco.
