The Fleming Museum at the University of Vermont's collection of 20,000 objects spans the history of civilization.

From 13th-century illuminated manuscripts to contemporary prints, the European collection features such artists as Beckman, Corot, Daumier, Dürer, Goltzius, Goya, Hogarth, Piranesi, and Rodin. Strengths include 16th-and 17th-century Northern European paintings and prints and 18th-century British portraits.

The Asian collection is notable for its Tang Dynasty Tomb figures and Qing Dynasty textiles from China; Korean ceramics, and Japanese lacquerware, calligraphy, and prints. African holdings are primarily of sculpture from West and Central Africa, and the Native American collection holds more than 2000 objects dating from c. 800 CE to the present.

Notable is American art, with depth in 19th- and 20th-century landscapes; early 20th-century prints, drawings, and photographs; early Rookwood pottery; and works in a variety of media by Vermont artists active from the mid-19th century through the present.

The museum is closed during academic holidays.
