Good Sport pays homage to the celebrated rites and rituals of athletic pursuits and their depiction in works of art throughout the ages. The exhibition draws upon works from the Museum’s collection, highlighting treasures by artists such as Alexander Calder, George Wesley Bellows, and Jean-Léon Gérôme. Good Sport draws upon works from the Museum’s collection. Pastimes from tennis and baseball to ballet and bullfighting are depicted in 19th- and 20th-century images spanning four of the Museum’s collecting areas: American, Contemporary, European, and Asian art.
