Fort Lauderdale collectors Drs. Walter and Mildred Padow began acquiring prints in Philadelphia in the 1960s and have greatly furthered their collection efforts since 1971, when they became residents of Fort Lauderdale.
This exhibition of over 100 prints highlights their distinctive collection of American and European engravings, etchings, lithographs, and woodcuts from the 16th through the 20th centuries, with works by such masters as Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) and Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), as well as works by print masters from subsequent centuries such as Francisco de Goya (1746-1828), Georges Braque (1882-1963), Edward Hopper (1882-1967), Paul Klee (1879-1940), Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945), Marie Laurencin (1863-1956), Henri Matisse, (1869-1954), Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841- 1919), and James A. McNeill Whistler (1834-1903).
