Artists from India, Tibet, and Nepal have for centuries created sculptures and paintings as windows into a divine Buddhist reality. With over thirty exceptional works dating from the second to the nineteenth century, this exhibition explores the spiritual meaning of these icons and highlights their role within the Buddhist doctrine. Works depicting a multitude of sublime deities, some fierce and others calming, lead the viewer closer to perfect knowledge of the universe through the teachings of wisdom and compassion.
